Purpose of the Initiative

The plantation drive was undertaken to:

• Promote environmental conservation and climate resilience
• Restore ecological balance and support biodiversity
• Encourage citizens and community engagement, especially youth and students, to plant and protect trees
• Contribute to cleaner air and improved public health
• Support groundwater recharge and soil conservation

What We Did

Volunteers, community members, students, and local partners came together to plant native and climate-resilient saplings in public spaces, schools, rural communities, and environmentally sensitive areas. Care was taken to select species that support local ecology, provide shade, prevent soil erosion, and contribute to long-term sustainability. Each plantation site was mapped and documented to ensure post-plantation care, including watering schedules, mulching, and monitoring survival rates.

Community Participation

The drive focused on people’s participation, encouraging individuals and families to adopt saplings and take responsibility for nurturing them. Awareness sessions were also conducted on:

• Importance of trees in combating climate change
• Waste reduction and eco-friendly lifestyles
• Conserving natural resources and protecting biodiversity

Environmental Impact

By increasing green cover, the plantation drive contributes to:

• Reduced air pollution
• Improved groundwater recharge
• Cooler and healthier urban and rural environments
• Shelter and food for birds and wildlife
